Maserati Quattroporte Now Available with 6-Speed Automatic Transmission from ZF

- CDC allows for comfortable and safe driving

2007/01/18 -- Maserati's top model, the sporty Maserati Quattroporte sedan - which was on display at the 2007 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) - is now available with a ZF 6-speed automatic transmission. The new transmission balances comfortable and responsive driving without compromising driving dynamics. Along with the 6-speed automatic transmission, the adaptive damping system CDC allows for comfortable and safe driving. The Maserati Quattroporte Automatic was presented at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit.

The 6-speed automatic transmission, introduced to the world by ZF in 2001, continues to be a success story. Along with Maserati, ZF 6-speed automatics are featured in vehicles from Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lincoln, Rolls-Royce, and Volkswagen. The transmission is the ideal solution for drivers who want to combine comfort with sporty driving dynamics. The transmission excels by providing smooth gear changes through an adaptive transmission control. It enables exact adaptation of the shift processes, ensuring perfect driving dynamics.


At the NAIAS, Maserati stated that the hydraulic 6-speed transmission from ZF emphasizes the progressive power delivery of the Maserati engine ensuring sleek, fluid gear changes, rapid shifting and seamless driving comfort. The transmission range is designed for input torques of up to 750 Nm – perfect for the powerful Maserati featuring 400 HP and 460 Nm. For sporty drivers, the 6-speed is designed with a manual shift option.

During 2006, ZF produced more than one million 6-speed automatic transmissions, making ZF the world’s largest independent supplier of automatic passenger car transmissions.
