Delivery of the 500th Setra TopClass 400 double-deck touring coach
Setra S 431 DT is in service in 25 different countries.
Ulm/Luxemburg -- Dec 18, 2007 -- The Setra Bus and Coach unit, Daimler AG's premium bus and coach brand, has built and delivered its 500th S 431 DT touring coach. The double-deck touring coach was handed over to the Luxembourg-based coach company "Voyages Demy Cars" in Ulm by the Head of Direct Foreign Sales, Michael Frey. The flagship of the Setra TopClass 400 touring coach model series first went into series production in 2003, and is now in service in a total of 25 countries.
The milestone model will be used primarily for group travel throughout Europe. Laurent Schandeler has been at the helm of "Voyages Demy Cars" for a couple of weeks, teaming up with cousins Gastron and Joël to form the family-run company's third generation of management. He sees the vehicle as an emblem of the great confidence that "Voyages Demy Cars" has consistently placed in Setra for decades now. This is confirmed by the fact that the company – which was founded by Dominique Schandeler in 1949 and adopted his nickname "Demy" as its title – has operated vehicles from all five Setra model series to date as part of its fleet. For Laurent Schandeler, the official handing over symbolises a new beginning too: "I am certain that the new management trio will get off to a great start with the S 431 DT."
Based in Keispelt near the city of Luxembourg, the company currently has 170 employees and a fleet totalling 90 vehicles. Apart from its international touring coach operations, "Voyages Demy Cars" also runs an extensive regular-service network.
