Chery Automobile Group Makes Contribution to China Earthquake Emergency Relief Operations

Emergency Service Calls in 8 Provinces Activated as Total Donation Value for Transport Vehicles, Emergency Tents & Cash Exceeds RMB 16.0 Mio (US$ 2.3 Mio)

May 13, 2008 -- Chery Automobile Group has taken immediate pro-active steps to support the ongoing nationwide emergency relief operations coordinated by the government, and has initiated a series of very effective support efforts. Since the news on the devastating earthquake has emerged on May 12th, the company has promptly reacted by donating a fleet of 30 vehicles to assist the transportation needs for relief operations.

Chery activated the emergency service calls in 8 provinces in and around Sichuan province the moment it learned of the earthquake’s scale, requiring its dealers and service stations in neighboring cities to stay in 24hr readiness to support and help with rescue actions.

The urgent relief donations by Chery include 20 postal services delivery vehicles of the Riich2 Mini-MPV, 10 Tiggo3 off-road vehicles. On May 14th, when learning that commodities and emergency tents to provide shelter are among the most urgently required necessities in the disaster area, Chery immediately stepped in to cover the entire donation of a total of 10,000 emergency tents to help meet the urgent need in the disaster area.

The combined efforts coordinated by Chery Automobile Group, its staff, subsidiaries, distributors and suppliers have led to a range of very effective pro-active support and help initiatives. By May 15th, the total amount of cash donated by Chery, its staff and affiliated companies has exceeded RMB 12 million (USD 1.7 million). This amount of money will be remitted immediately to the National Charity Federation as the fastest channel to help with the ongoing relief operations and accomplish the enterprise’s social responsibility to the earthquake-stricken area. Chery Automobile group and its staff, subsidiaries, distributors and suppliers remain very concerned for the earthquake region.
