All from a single source: from technical information to repair instructions to spare parts

Friedrichshafen, 2008/05/13 -- For more than 90 years, vehicles with ZF technology have been used on land, water and in the air. The automotive supplier does now justice to this long standing tradition of technology by pooling its service offers for vintage vehicle owners. Themed "ZF Tradition",everything will be offered from a single source in the future.

From a farm tractor to a helicopter, from a motor yacht to a sports car: Vehicles equipped with transmissions, steering systems, differentials or axles by ZF have been around for many years. They are old but not ready for the scrap heap. Far from it: All over the globe, more and more people become vintage vehicle enthusiasts. However, very often they are facing problems when they need spare parts for their vintage vehicles because many parts are difficult to find, cannot be found at all or only at horrendous prices. Turning the search for old spare parts not into an odyssey but into something simple is what ZF has committed itself to.

To this end, ZF is now pooling its skills and responsibilities arranged by the subjects: ZF Service GmbH in Dortmund will assume responsibility for everything related to passenger cars as well as commercial vehicle steering systems and axles, ZF in Friedrichshafen (Customer Service) for commercial vehicle transmissions, and ZF Passau GmbH will handle all questions concerning farm tractors. These central points of contact have internal know-how networks of ZF experts at their disposal, but there will be only one interface with the customer. 14 Customer Service points in Germany, Switzerland and Austria will guarantee close contact with owners of vintage vehicles.

This new concept is complemented by an Internet presence. As of June 2008, people interested in vintage vehicles and modern classics can find contacts and various information under zf.com/tradition. Bit by bit, the online presentation will be completed with further facts on historic ZF products, their availability, source of supply, and repair tips.

However, it is not only external vintage vehicle lovers ZF wants to address but also their own employees. "Many ZF employees are proud of their company and identify with ZF particularly through our historic products in classic vehicles", explains Matthias Lenz, Head of ZF Corporate Communications. "Independent of their workplaces and locations, we would like to put these employees in touch by means of an Intranet platform and, thus, develop a Group-internal vintage vehicle community".
