The New Blaupunkt Velocity Amplifiers: Trendsetters for Sound Enthusiasts

Pure power for an outstanding sound experience

The Blaupunkt's Velocity 2008 model generation will feature two completely new product lines from Bosch subsidiary Blaupunkt to provide for a wider ranging offer on the aftermarket. While powerful high-tech amplifiers in the upper price segment have dominated to date, Blaupunkt is now moving into definitely more attractively priced regions with the new Velocity VA 275 and VA 475 amplifiers.

Highlights:
· The Velocity Pro line: Top-of-the-line technology for perfectionists
· New all-rounders in the Velocity class are attractively priced
· Strapping monoblock with link function for up to 5000 watts of power

Depending on the use or type of connection respectively, the VA 275 two-channel version is able to produce an output of 2 x 75 watts RMS (Root Mean Square) or alternatively, in one-channel mode, up to 210 watts RMS at four ohms. The Velocity VA 475 is even more flexible – namely in either four-, three- or two-channel mode – and is able to supply the car stereo speakers with an impressive 400 watts RMS.

High efficiency for uncompromising sound
Velocity products are traditionally built to afford uncompromising sound quality. Compared with conventional amplifier product ranges, they sport elaborate circuit technology: generously sized power supplies that never buckle even when performance peaks are reached in the subwoofer range and complicated inner wiring that provides for a high attenuation factor. That is important to enable the perfect control of the speaker cones. Thus, the Velocity powerhouses are fully fitted and guarantee clean, clear and particularly lifelike music reproduction with rich bass sound and brilliant trebles.

In addition to the usual connection options, all the two- and four-channel Velocity amplifiers are also able to use such separate sources as MP3 players or portable navigation devices directly via Direct Aux Input and deliver impressive sound and readily understandable voice reproduction for all the passengers in the vehicle. Additional treble inputs for the VA 275 and VA 475 basic versions are even able to directly drive the amplifiers on the conventional speaker outputs of a car radio.

Big muscle in the professional league
In the Velocity top class, the extremely powerful, newly designed two- and four-channel amps, the VPA 2140 Pro and the VPA 4130 Pro, get lots of support in the bass range from a monoblock for subwoofers with impressive performance data: the Velocity VPA 1500 Pro. At four ohms of speaker impedance, the heavy weight already delivers far more than 500 watts RMS, at two ohms that figure is very close to 1000 watts RMS and reliable operation is still guaranteed even at impedances of only one ohm. That is when the VPA 1500 Pro pushes close to 1500 watts RMS into the subwoofer lines. In fact, pure bass speakers with two separate two-ohm voice coils are also driven in parallel operation so that only a one-ohm stability of the amp is required. This type of connection is also possible at any time with the just as new subwoofer chassis of the Velocity line.

And as if that were not enough: the Velocity VPA 1500 Pro also sports another special feature – the so-called "link function", which makes it possible to combine two amps to virtually quadruple the output power. This results in an enormous power output of up to 5000 watts RMS. The people who need this kind of power are, for example, music enthusiasts who take part in national and international sound pressure competitions with elaborately designed car audio systems and, in addition to a lot of time and effort, also invest a considerable amount of money in this hobby. The amplifiers in the Velocity Pro line are ideally suited to meet these special needs because they make it possible to advance into these extreme performance dimensions at a relatively moderate price.

Cutting-edge technology is always reflected in the price. But anyone who has the opportunity to take a closer look into the interior of the new Velocity Pro amplifiers – and even if they are only looking at an illustration – will be impressed by the straightforward circuit design, by the concentration on technical performance and the lack of visual bells and whistles that do no more than to make the whole package prettier. This includes the massive toroidal transformers of the dual rather than just single power packs, while fat ELCOs skillfully absorb the performance peaks. And it is all garnished with gold-plated screw connections of a convincing caliber, which sometimes have to deal with wiring the size of jumper cables. This is where you will also find the standard for a high attenuation factor and the enhanced stability of the systems at two ohms and in bridged mode at considerably increased output performance. All of this, along with the heat dissipation required, necessitates the corresponding size of the enclosure in the Velocity-Pro class. And with their anodized heat sinks in silver titanium, the sturdy covers with the embossed Velocity logo and the connections neatly hidden under the removable end caps, these amps are also a delight to the eyes. In short: anyone looking for perfection will find it here – these amplifiers suddenly put even extreme sound visions into the realm of the attainable.
