Snap-on Recognized by Frost & Sullivan as Leader in US Automotive Technicians' Choice Survey

Company Receives Awards for Being the Best Overall Brand for Hand Tools, Scan Tools & Tool Storage

PALO ALTO, Calif., Jan. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Frost & Sullivan recently announced that Snap-on, a leading global developer, manufacturer and marketer of tool and equipment solutions for professional tool users, has emerged as the leader among professional automotive technicians throughout the United States, according to Frost & Sullivan's 2006 U.S. Automotive Technicians' Choice Tools Survey.

Snap-on led the competition in all categories explored including Best Quality, Most Innovative, Best Retailer Customer Service, and Overall Best Brand and received the 2006 Frost & Sullivan Awards for Best Overall Hand Tools, Best Overall Scan Tools, and Best Overall Tool Storage.

The objective of the 2006 U.S. Automotive Technicians' Choice Tools Survey is to measure automotive technicians' brand preferences for the tools they use in their everyday work. The 2006 survey was completed using Frost & Sullivan's Professional Automotive Technicians panel, which consists of professional automotive technicians currently employed in automotive repair shops and garages across the U.S.

To assess the competitive landscape of the automotive tool industry, Frost & Sullivan surveyed professional automotive technicians. Survey respondents were requested to select the brand they consider to be the best in each evaluative category from a list of market competitors. Respondents were encouraged to specify other selections if their brand choice was not listed.

Awards were then presented to market participants that received the highest proportion of respondent selections.

In the Hand Tools category, Snap-on emerged as the leader among professional automotive technicians throughout the U.S., with a commanding 76 percent overall brand rating. This margin of victory is outstanding considering the market is fragmented and extremely competitive.

High customer loyalty to Snap-on hand tools appears to be primarily driven by quality and reliability. In the Hand Tools category, customers also rated Snap-on as a strong leader in the categories of Quality (78 percent), Innovation (55 percent), and Most Likely to Purchase (55 percent).

In the Scan Tool category, professional automotive technicians also gave Snap-on the highest endorsements in all performance categories, including Overall Best Brand (51 percent), Best Quality (49 percent), Most Innovative (50 percent), and Best Retailer Customer Service (51 percent). That Snap-on continues to hold such a commanding position is a tremendous testament to the fact that customers value its focus on quality and innovation.

"Snap-on's positive recognition is due to more than just the products themselves but also to Snap-on's commitment after the sale," stated Tonya Fowler, Director of Competitive Benchmarking Services and author of the 2006 U.S. Automotive Technicians' Choice Tools Survey. "The company's continuous, long-term software support is a unique advantage, and of utmost importance because it keeps Snap-on's customers up-to-date and maximizes their capabilities."

Furthermore, 65 percent of professional automotive technicians named Snap- on as the Best Overall Brand for Tool Storage. Once again, Snap-on scored highest in all attributes - Quality (64 percent), Innovation (52 percent), and Most Likely to Purchase (44 percent). The results show that customers who place a high value on quality service overwhelmingly chose Snap-on.

"The Award recognizes that Snap-on, through years of consistently offering superb tools and strong after-sales support, has gained the preference and trust of the professionals that work with its products," added Fowler. "This chosen group of professionals - Automotive Technicians - is a demanding group that depends upon these tools for their trade and thus evaluates them in a range of challenging situations."

This favorable evaluation that Snap-on has received is expected to support the manufacturer in furthering its prominence within the automotive technician community.

Snap-on's stated mission is to provide "The most valued productivity solutions in the world" and it appears they are backing-up that mission. And even as it is indicated in their mission, Snap-on's focus goes beyond products, to providing total solutions that improve their customers' businesses.

It is in recognition of the company's commitment to providing automotive technicians with the innovation, quality and service they need and have come to expect that Frost & Sullivan presents Snap-on with the 2006 Automotive Technicians' Choices Awards for Best Overall Hand Tools, Best Overall Scan Tools, and Best Overall Tool Storage.
