- Successful market launch for the new MINI Clubman

12/07/2007, Munich -- The BMW Group is on track for a new record for sales for 2007 as a whole. Up to the end of November this year, 1,347,998 BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce brand cars were delivered to customers. Compared with the figures for the same period last year (1,244,778), this is an increase of 103,220 vehicles, or 8.3%. This means that, in the first eleven months of 2007, almost as many vehicles were delivered as in the whole of the previous year (2006 in total: 1,373,926). In November 2007, the company increased its car sales by 13.2% to 129,460 units (prev.yr.: 114,331).

Sales of BMW brand automobiles rose for the period to the end of November to 1,145,101 units (prev.yr.: 1,070,054, + 7.0%). In the month under review, 110,247 (prev.yr.: 100,839, +9.3%) vehicles were sold. The top-selling model range was once again the BMW 3 Series, which accounted for over 40% of sales in November. Clear growth rates were recorded in particular by the BMW 3 Series Coupé with 7,913 units (prev.yr.: 7,207, +9.8%) and the BMW 3 Series Cabrio with 4,569 units (prev.yr.: 1,477, +209.3%). A high proportion of November sales was also registered for the BMW 5 Series, with 20,484 (prev.yr.: 20,453, +0.2%) and the BMW 1 Series with 16,639 sales (prev.yr.: 11,473, +45.0%). In a comparison between model ranges, the highest rate of growth in sales, with 12,744 vehicles sold (prev.yr.: 5,269 /+141.9%), was for the new X5. Precisely one year after the market launch, the onroad-offroader made in the BMW plant in Spartanburg, USA, has thus already passed the 100,000 mark in terms of sales.

Stefan Krause, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for Sales and Marketing, commented: "Despite the difficult market conditions, we are approaching the target for 2007 at top speed. We are therefore confident that we will, at Group level, reach our desired sales increase in the upper single-digit percentage range."

Successful market launch: Over 2100 MINI Clubman sold already
The MINI is also continuing to enjoy a high level of demand worldwide. The number of vehicles delivered in the period to the end of November rose by 16.1% to 202,076 (prev.yr.: 174,082) vehicles. This means that as many MINI cars were sold in the first eleven months of the year as in the whole of the top-selling year 2005 (200,400 units). In November, 19,078 (prev.yr.: 13,402) vehicles were delivered to customers. Compared to the same month last year, this was an increase of 42.4%.
A new member of the MINI family successfully contributed to the further increase in MINI sales: The MINI Clubman has been available in Europe since 10 November and, as an individual shooting brake vehicle concept, has expanded the MINI model range to three versions. Even in its launch phase, this automobile has proved extraordinarily popular with customers. 2,142 buyers chose a MINI Clubman within the first few weeks. With the start of the model in the spring of 2008 in the sales markets in North America (16 February 2008) and Asia, the brand is expecting a clear rise in sales figures. In the first full sales year, 2008, every fifth MINI will probably be a Clubman.

Rolls-Royce Motorcars increased the number of vehicles delivered in the period to the end of November by 27.9% to 821 vehicles. In November, 135 automobiles were handed over to customers (prev.yr.: 90, +50.0%).

In the Motorcycles segment, sales in the period to the end of November 2007 reached 95,663 vehicles (prev.yr.: 92,605, +3.3%). In November, the number of BMW motorcycles delivered to customers reached 5,980 units (prev.yr.: 6,354,
-5.9%).
