Delphi's New Braking Range Is One of the Most Comprehensive O.E. Ranges in the Aftermarket

Delphi Now Produces 4 million Brake Pads Per Year With Joint Venture Alliance Technologies

October 15, 2007, FRANKFURT, GERMANY -- Delphi's braking range now covers over 95 percent of the European vehicle parc making it one of the most comprehensive braking lines in the aftermarket. In 2007, Delphi added more than 630 parts to its aftermarket range of friction and hydraulic braking components, which now includes more than 3,600 friction and 2,800 hydraulic parts.

"This growth was inspired by a strong focus on helping our customers communicate the benefits of OE quality to technicians through an extensive promotional campaign in 17 languages" said Lesley Culpan, European business line manager braking, Delphi Product & Service Solutions. "Those benefits include twenty different material formulations for best vehicle and performance match; latest generation, OE quality under layer technology for damping and noise suppression; OE technology noise fix solutions; and matching OE accessories."

A selection of these new parts, including brake cylinders, brake shoes, kits and pads will be showcased at Equip Auto in the Delphi booth # 6K59.

Since the launch of its joint venture manufacturing facility last year, all brake pads produced by Delphi are made using one of more than 20 high-technology friction materials. By selecting the most appropriate material, Delphi is able to match the OE pad specification, giving the required performance and comfort characteristics for individual vehicles. Additionally, the majority of Delphi's pads are manufactured using an OE quality underlayer for enhanced pad performance by damping vibrations which can cause noise.

In addition to the extended product range and promotional campaign, Delphi has supported its aftermarket customers with new catalogues. In June, the company launched its latest friction catalogue, which covers its range of brake pads, shoes, discs, drums and fitting accessories. The catalogue features several design innovations aimed at making it easier for customers to select the right part the first time with features like thumbnail illustrations, a printed ruler to each right hand page, a vehicle model highlighted in red and the vehicle manufacturer's name printed on the top outside corner of every page.

The hydraulics catalogue launched in August contains details of more than 2,800 part numbers including 230 parts which are new to the braking range. To enhance its usability, each product is accompanied by a high resolution picture along with OE references and a list of all relevant dimensions. Additionally, drawings for hoses have been replaced with photographs, again making it easier to identify the correct part first time.
