BorgWarner Announces 2007 'China Heart' Engine Award Winners
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Dec. 17 /PRNewswire - FirstCall/ -- BorgWarner (NYSE:BWA) presented the "China Heart" awards in Beijing recently as sponsor of the second annual event recognizing China's top 10 engines. The 2007 China Heart winners include the:
-- Mazda 6 2.3L engine from FAW Car Company
-- Audi 3.2L FSI engine from FAW-VW
-- BMW 3.0L engine from Brilliance BMW
-- Roewe 2.5L engine from Shanghai Motor Company
-- Buick 2.4L engine from Shanghai General Motors
-- Magotan & Skoda 1.8 TSI engine from FAW-VW
-- Zun Chi 1.8T engine from Brilliance Auto
-- Carolla 1.8L engine from FAW-Toyota
-- Brilliance Jun Jie 1.8L engine from Dong'an Engine Company
-- SX 4 1.6L engine from Chang'an Suzuki
Representing the only engine evaluation event in China, the top ten engines for the China Heart awards were selected by an independent evaluation committee, comprised of 14 members from research agencies, universities and the media. To qualify, all engines must be manufactured in China, equipped for vehicles made in China, and in mass production in China for the current year. Following data research and drive tests, 59 engines made by 34 OEMs and engine manufacturers were rated based on power performance, technologies, market performance, environmental concerns and field judgment.

The BorgWarner Engine Group provides systems and components for five of China's ten best engines, including the timing chain system for the Mazda 6 2.3L from FAW; secondary air pump for the BMW 3.0L from Brilliance BMW; ignition coil for the Roewe 2.5L from Shanghai Motor Company; timing chain system and water pump for the Zun Chi 1.8T from Brilliance Auto; and timing chain system, turbocharger and water pump for the Magotan & Skoda 1.8 TSI from FAW-VW. BorgWarner's technology is aimed at boosting performance, improving fuel economy and reducing emissions to meet the increasing demands of China's growing auto industry.
