Nanterre, September 18, 2006 -- Today, Faurecia received the "Janus de l'Industrie 2006"* award from the French Foreign Trade Minister, Christine Lagarde, for its latest concept car, Happy Attitude. The award ceremony was organized at the Senate in Paris by the French Design Institute.
Faurecia Happy Attitude Concept Car receives the "Janus de l'Industrie 2006" AwardThe "Janus de l'Industrie", which is sponsored by the French Industry and Foreign Trade Ministry, is widely recognized in the design and business worlds as a yardstick in quality. It awards Faurecia's expertise in design and innovation in the development of a more userfriendly product.
It was Faurecia's new approach to soft trim, based on the introduction of interchangeable vehicle interior components, that won over the Janus panel. A departure from the traditional view of the car, this trendy city-car won hearts through its realism, the affordability of the technologies used and its fun attitude to the urban environment through four cheerful and colorful soft trim collections inspired by contemporary fashion.
The Happy Attitude concept car is the result of collaborative research by all Faurecia’s operations. The resulting concept incorporates consumer requirements for a modular vehicle and anticipates automakers' needs for models with an edge over the competition. It epitomizes the Group's continuous innovation policy designed to benefit its automaker customers.
*For 50 years, the Janus Awards have been decided by a panel made up of volunteers from a variety of sectors such as industry, healthcare, trade, design and architecture, as well as professionals in communications, the media and human sciences. Each year, five Janus awards are presented in different categories (Industry, Health, Trade, City and Student) to encourage and validate an initiative that includes design as far upstream as possible in the development process. The criteria used for the Janus awards are based on the "5 Es" - elegance, ergonomics, economy, ethics and emotion.
