Advanced Interconnect Technologies Signs Assembly Service Agreement with Elmos Semiconductor for Automotive ICS

Agreement Involves Transfer of Elmos' Assembly Equipment From Holland to AIT's Facility in Batam, Indonesia
SINGAPORE, June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Advanced Interconnect Technologies, a global provider of semiconductor assembly and test services, today announced that it has signed a multi-year assembly service agreement with Elmos Semiconductor. Elmos, headquartered in Dortmund, Germany, is a global provider of mixed signal ASICs predominantly for the automotive industry. According to the agreement, Elmos will transfer its IC assembly business and equipment in Europe to AIT's facility in Batam, Indonesia, with an option for AIT to purchase the equipment at a later date. The transfer is expected to be completed in the next few months.AIT's 400,000 square feet of operational facility in Batam will house the full line of consigned equipment from Elmos. The equipment will be used to assemble SOIC .300" packages of various leadcounts for automotive applications like climate control, powertrain and chassis. AIT currently assembles similar SOIC packages for Elmos using existing AIT assembly lines.

According to Gartner, the market for automotive semiconductors is projected to expand at a 7.8 percent compound annual growth rate (CAGR) between 2005 and 2011(1). "This agreement strengthens AIT's position in the semiconductor assembly and test services (SATS) market as a leading provider of assembly services for automotive ICs," said Guilmart.
