Seventh Annual Automotive PR Awards Open for Entries
Competition Recognizes Success in a Unique Industry
January 15, 2008, RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – The seventh annual “Excellence in Automotive PR” award recognizing outstanding automotive-related public relations campaigns is now accepting entries.
Sponsored by the Automotive Public Relations Council (APRC), the Excellence awards honor those who have approached an automotive-related PR issue with exemplary professional skill, creativity and resourcefulness. The annual award also recognizes complete PR programs that incorporate sound research, planning, execution and evaluation.
“Until the advent of the ‘Excellence in Automotive PR Awards’ seven years ago, the automotive industry was never uniquely identified,” said Margaret Beck, executive director of APRC and senior director of marketing and communications for the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA), the aftermarket segment of the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA). “This award recognizes the important role PR plays in an integrated communications plan and its significance to any marketing mix.”
The Excellence awards recognize outstanding achievement in these categories:
* Advertising (open to auto/truck suppliers only)
* Communications Campaign (PR program that was an on-going campaign)
* Crisis Communications
* Internal Communications
* Media Relations (Consumer)
* Media Relations (Trade)
* New Product Launch
* Press Events
* Special Events/Observances
All entries must be received at APRC headquarters by Friday, Feb. 22.
Information about the “Excellence in Automotive PR” awards and APRC membership is available online at the Council Web site, www.autopr.org.
The APRC is a professional peer group of the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association.

Together, these companies keep the U.S. automotive and truck industry supplied with the components that enable it to produce some 17 million vehicles annually and keep the 214 million vehicles on the road with replacement products and services. MEMA supports its members through its three market segment associations: Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA), Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association (HDMA) and Original Equipment Suppliers Association (OESA).
