NAIAS Announces the Annual Poster Contest

Oct. 3, 2007, Troy, Mich. - The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) 2008, sponsored by NAIAS LLC, an association of Detroit area auto dealers, announces the annual poster contest in connection with the NAIAS next January.

The 20th Annual High School Poster Contest is open to all Michigan residents enrolled in grades 10 through 12. An independent panel of recognized representatives from the local art community will judge the contest. State Farm Insurance is offering a $1000 award for their selected poster; which will be printed on t-shirts that will be randomly given away to students at the opening ceremony on Automotive Education Day (January 23, 2008). This means that this year the NAIAS has a total of 16 possible winners:

Winning posters may be displayed at the NAIAS 2008 and reproduced in the official NAIAS program, which is available to the public, corporate executives and automotive suppliers. Winning posters may also be displayed on the official NAIAS web site at the sole discretion of the NAIAS.

For the 2007 auto show, schools that participated throughout the state of Michigan included a record breaking 101 high schools with 621 total entries, doubling last years participation. The contest was established to engage the creative minds of Michigan’s future artists and encourage careers in automotive design while recognizing local art communities for their talents.

Posters must be original artwork, approximately 25” x 21” in size, two-dimensional and camera ready. The poster theme must be automotive related. Any mixed media suitable for reproduction as a poster is allowed, including computer-generated graphics, and all subject matter must be in good taste.

Posters must contain all of the following copy: "North American International Auto Show 2008”, "Detroit", and "Cobo Center.” The entry deadline is November 21, 2007.
