Holden VE Ute at Home in Sydney 4x4 Show
2007-11-04 -- The new Holden VE Ute will be the centrepiece of GM Holden’s broad offering in the SUV and LCV market on display at this year’s 4x4 Show in Sydney, Australia.
VE Ute went on sale in October to widespread media praise and is the latest iconic model in a line-up that spans almost 60 years of Australian motoring.
The 4x4 Show starts on Friday, 9 November, with the GM Holden stand also displaying
the popular Rodeo - in both 4x4 and 4x2 variants - and a range of Holden’s AWD Captivas. Both Rodeo and Captiva come in petrol and diesel models offering consumers even more choice this year.
Holden VE Ute
On sale this month, the VE Ute is Holden's first completely new ute design since the VU series in 2000. It offers more features, more useable interior space, greater storage flexibility and more performance than any of its predecessors.
The new Holden VE Ute strengthens Holden’s position at the premium sports end of the ute market by introducing an all new SS V model to its VE Ute range.
It is powered by Holden's 6.0-litre Generation IV V8 engine which delivers 270kW of peak power and peak torque of 530Nm*, teamed with flagship six-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission.
VE Ute SV6 has the High Output Alloytec V6 engine matched with five-speed automatic transmission, 18-inch wheels and dual exhausts. Standard features include sports facias and sports suspension.
Captiva
Holden’s popular mid-size Captiva SUV range on display includes the five-seater SX, seven-seater LX and the sporty five-seater MaXX.
The choice of five and seven seats delivers a flexible and highly specified range that is proving an appealing choice in the medium and compact-sized SUV market.
Captiva MaXX is powered by the high-performance Australian-built Alloytec 3.2-litre V6 engine, producing 167kW of peak power and 297Nm# of peak torque.
Holden’s new responsive and economical turbo-powered Captiva variant is on display, powered by a 2.0-litre common rail turbo diesel engine, compliant with Euro IV emission standards.
Available with a five-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission with Active Select, depending on model, Captiva Diesel is very fuel efficient, with the manual variant returning 7.6 litres per 100km and the automatic 8.6 litres per 100km (ADR81/01).
Captiva Diesel retains the intelligent active all-wheel drive system found on the petrol variants and contributes to Captiva’s versatile appeal. It is fully integrated into the ESP® and ABS systems, improving vehicle control and active safety.
Rodeo
The powerful turbo diesel Rodeo features several design enhancements, increased braked towing capability and a new five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission to manage the increased torque and retain a light shift feel.
The workhorse also boasts redesigned front and rear fascias, including front and rear lamps, updated over-fender flares and a bold bonnet air-induction scoop as part of the new turbo diesel’s exterior changes.
Improved driver and passenger seating, new steering wheel, HVAC controls and interior trims, updated instrument clusters and interior side vents, plus redesigned transmission levers, makes Rodeo an outstanding range representing great value for money.
The 3.0-litre VCDi common rail engine delivers 25 per cent more peak power while meeting strict new Euro IV emission requirements. Peak power of 120kW is achieved at 3600rpm (up from 96kW at 3800rpm) and peak torque of 333Nm is achieved at 1600rpm (automatic) and 360Nm at 1800 rpm (manual)**.
